How does the "Overwrite Blank Values" setting affect data ingestion?

The Overwrite Blank Values checkbox is used to remove existing data from Curve by replacing it with a null (empty) value during ingestion. This option is only relevant when you are using the Templates to adjust existing metadata onto Curve.

For example, if a Track or Release currently has a value in a field (e.g., the Version field contains "Remix" or "Remastered"), and you wish to clear that value, you must:

  1. Clear the cell corresponding to that field in your import Template.
  2. Enable the Overwrite Blank Values setting when importing the Template.

Whereas this feature did not affect your data when creating new Payees, Contracts or Catalogue; it does have a significant impact when you are using the Excel templates to adjust existing assets. Enabling this setting tells the system to interpret the blank cell in the template as an instruction to overwrite and erase the corresponding data currently stored in Curve.
