What is the procedure for successfully ingesting YouTube sales files into Curve?
Successfully ingesting YouTube statements and creating video assets presents a unique challenge, as the sales files often lack the ISRC information required for direct linkage to existing Tracks.
To address this, we employ the following mapping strategies:
Mapping by Asset ID and Title
In the absence of an ISRC, the Asset ID column is generally used to link a video to a Track that exists in your catalogue. This method requires that the Track Title or Artist Name be contained within the video title field to enable accurate mapping.
Utilising Artist-Specific Dummy Tracks
If a match cannot be established via ISRC, and the Track Title is not present in the video title, but you know the associated Artist, we recommend creating "dummy" Tracks for those artists to absorb their unmappable YouTube earnings.
For example, you could create a Track named "Artist #1 YouTube Videos" and map all relevant Asset IDs that cannot be linked to specific catalogue Tracks to this single dummy Track.
Alternatively, you could map these sales lines directly to the Artist Contract. More information on this process you can find here: Mapping Sales Directly to a Contract
Utilizing a General YouTube Dummy Track
If the data is completely lacking a Track Title, Artist Name, and the associated channel is unknown, we recommend creating a general YouTube "dummy" Track.
This ensures that all unmappable YouTube sales are allocated to a single Track, which serves two primary purposes:
- It allows you to view the total revenue generated by these unmappable videos.
- It provides a central location to find and access the corresponding sales data if needed for later analysis or manual correction.
Please remember that our Template Library covers hundreds of statement formats. Before you create your own Template, please try uploading your sales file to Curve using our Bulk Import tool. If Curve uploaded your sales files successfully using a Template from our Library & you are happy with the outcome, then you do not need to create your own Template.
