Review and Merge Duplicate Publishers, Composers or Works
If you’ve been managing your Publishers, Composers, or Works for a while, you’ve likely run into a few duplicates. Messy data isn’t just an eyesore, it can lead to "broken" IP chains and fragmented royalty payments.
Our Catalogue Manage Tool is built to help you clean up your metadata without losing your history or messing up your revenue streams.
Found under Catalogue > Manage, this tool scans your database for potential matches. You can then delete redundant entries or Merge them, allowing you to hand-pick the best details from each Publishers/Composers/Works to create one perfect entry.
This feature is currently only available in Beta. If you wish to get Beta access to this functionality, please reach out to our support team at [email protected].
Step by Step:
A - Preparation & Syncing
- Back Up Your Data: As a security best practice, we recommend downloading a full export of your Works, Composers, and Publishers before performing any bulk management. This ensures you have a recovery point in case of administrative error.
- Locate the Tool: Navigate to the Catalogue menu and select the Manage section. Here, you will find buttons to "Find Duplicate [Works/Composers/Publishers]."
- Refresh for Accuracy: If you have recently added new data to your catalogue, click the Refresh button (top right) to ensure the tool is scanning your most up-to-date data.
B - Reviewing Your Duplicates
Once the scan is complete, Curve will display a table highlighting potential duplicates. For each entry, you have three primary actions:
- View Details (Downwards Arrow): Expand the line to see a summary of why these items were flagged as potential matches.
- Flag as Unique (Flag Icon): If the tool flags two items that are actually distinct, click the "Remove Duplicate" flag. This tells the system to ignore this specific match in future scans.
- Quick Delete (Trash Icon): If you are certain an entry is redundant, you can delete it directly from the list. /!\ Warning: Deleting is permanent. Ensure the record is not linked to active IP chains before proceeding.

C - Merging for Data Integrity
For a more nuanced approach, use the Review and Merge button (the blue icon with the two arrows). This takes you to a dedicated workspace where you can consolidate information:
- Select the Composer/Work/Publisher: Choose which entry should remain as the "Primary" one.
- Consolidate Metadata: Review the differences between the duplicates. You can choose specific details (like an IPI number or an ISWC) from either entry to keep for the final version.
- Add Missing Info: Use the fields at the bottom of the page to add any new information that may have been missing from both original entries.
- Confirm Merge: Once confirmed, Curve will merge the data, ensuring your royalty links and IP chains remain intact and pointed toward the correct entry.
